Dr. Francis Collins, NIH Director, to Keynote at Eighth International SIO Conference Join us on November 10-12, 2011 at the InterContinental Hotel and Conference Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The Eighth International SIO Conference will once again be the gathering place for clinicians, researchers, patients and advocates in integrative cancer care from all over the world. We will feature prominent speakers talking about cutting edge research and issues vital to the practice of integrative oncology. The Conference will provide an opportunity for attendees to hear about advancements made in the field, to present their work, build collaborations and to learn from each other. Our keynote speakers are today’s pioneers in the field driving innovations in science and clinical care. Dr. Francis Collins, Director of the National Institutes of Health, will address the role of body, mind and spirit in life-threatening illness. Dr. Jeffery Dusek, Research Director of the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing, will discuss the intersection between epigenetics and mind-body therapies. Dr. Stanton Gerson, Director of the Case Western Reserve University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will speak on the future of integrative oncology. Our schedule also includes plenary sessions, moderated panels, experiential workshops, and oral and poster presentations of research findings, including a “Best of the SIO” abstract session. SIO 2011 Early Investigator Awards SIO will award three Early Investigator Awards to early career investigators who submit New Original Research to the Eighth International SIO Conference. To qualify for consideration, the first author must be a graduate student, post-doctoral fellow, resident, or fellow. A SIO Early Investigator Award includes conference registration, travel costs (hotel, airfare, and ground transportation), and a ticket to the Awards Banquet. SIO is committed to the career development of young investigators. Please encourage your trainees and young investigators to submit abstracts to the Eighth International SIO Conference. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center seeks a faculty member for a full-time academic position in the Integrative Medicine Service at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. The successful applicant will be board certified in Medical or Surgical Oncology, eligible for a license to practice in the State of New York and have experience in clinical research and grant preparation. The appointee will participate in the clinical practice and training activities of the Integrative Medicine Service and pursue independent clinical research.
