Invitation to All SIO Members and Conference Attendees from the Executive Committee

October 20, 2009

Dear Colleague:

The Executive Committee of the Society for Integrative Oncology personally welcomes you to the Sixth International Conference of the Society for Integrative Oncology, New York Academy of Medicine, New York City, November 12-13, 2009.

We would like to invite you to the SIO Dinner and Awards Ceremony being held at the world famous professional Metropolitan Club on Park Avenue. Full price tickets are normally $250, but thanks to some sponsored tables (from our patient advocate Board Member, Helen Moss) we are subsidizing  members attendance over $100 per person in order to give you the maximum opportunity to attend this unique function and to support your society. Dinner is within a fabulous renaissance style European architectural environment and will consist of a five  course meal with a vintage wine list and all beverages and tips included. Normally this location is for club members only, but we have been given special privileges to hold our dinner in this splendid location.

Our guest speaker for the evening is Dr. Richard "Buz" Cooper, Professor of Medicine and Senior Fellow in the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He previously served as Executive Vice President and Dean of the Medical College of Wisconsin and, prior to that, as Director of Penn's Cancer Center, which he founded. His interests have focused on the health care workforce and on the economic and social dynamics underlying the health care system. Dr. Cooper is a national force in today's health policy discussions. He will address the question of how health care reform will affect providers and patients.  Dr. Cooper is an entertaining and controversial speaker who will stimulate your thoughts on the future of health care, relevant to all health care professionals, especially integrative medicine.

His talk is titled: "Integrative Medicine and Health Care Reform".

We strongly encourage you to attend this important SIO event.  We have not had an SIO Dinner and Awards Ceremony in the past, but we believe it is important as a society to have this kind of event yearly, to celebrate our members and leaders in the SIO.  We do hope that you can come and socialize at this wonderful function within one of Manhattan's prestige buildings and hope that you will take advantage of bringing yourself (and, if you like, also a guest) to this important SIO social and professional event.

Please don't miss this splendid opportunity!

We are looking forward to speaking with you at the Conference and Dinner.
