At the Society's 5th Annual General Meeting, SIO created a new position on its Board of Directors for a patient advocate. "We unanimously chose Helen Moss", commented Stephen Sagar, President of SIO. "Helen has tirelessly promoted our most important clients, that is our patients".
Helen has a long history as a proud feminist, mother, business professional (she was a Vice President with Merrill Lynch). Helen says that, even as a child, she was determined to lead, rather than be led. Helen developed breast cancer in 2000, and poured her powerful energy into fighting her cancer and helping others do the same. She created the Helen Moss Breast Cancer Foundation. Her son, Jim Moss, is an assistant county prosecutor with the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office in Cleveland, Ohio, and is on the Board of the Helen Moss Breast Cancer Foundation.
