Consortium for the Globalization of Chinese Medicine hold its 8th International Conference in Nottingham, England.

The CGHM is an international organization that pursues the scientific advancement of Chinese Medicine through international research and education collaborations.

The mission of the Consortium for the Globalisation of Chinese Medicine is to advance the field of Chinese herbal medicine to benefit human kind through joint efforts of the academic institutions, industries and regulatory agencies around the world.

President of SIO, Stephen Sagar MD, attended the Conference in Nottingham, U.K. (26-28th August, 2009) as a member of a panel to evaluate the role of Chinese herbal therapies used as anticancer therapies and for supportive care.

Speakers include Josephine P Briggs, MD, Director, National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, NIH, and Jeffrey White MD, Director of the Office of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (OCCAM), NCI.

SIO will be discussing institutional membership of CGCM, which already incorporates members from about 100 institutions that include various organizations, universities, industry, and government. CGCM is led by Yale Professor of Pharmacology, Tommy Cheng.
